DECLARATION OF OFFICIAL ELECTION RESULTS

2024 BY-ELECTION PRELIMINARY RESULTS

 

The City of Port Alberni Municipal Council is comprised of a mayor and six councillors elected for a four-year term. A by-election for one (1) Councillor for the City of Port Alberni will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Echo Centre - 4255 Wallace Street.

City Councillor John Douglas passed away suddenly on July 11, 2024. Section 54 of the Local Government Act requires that an election be held as soon as practicable when a vacancy occurs in an elected local government office.

Residents of BC, as well as property owners within jurisdiction are eligible to vote, provided they meet the Local Government Act eligibility requirements (see general election information below for details).
