Declaration of Election By Voting

The City of Port Alberni Municipal Council is comprised of a mayor and six councillors elected for a four-year term; the next general local government election will be held on Saturday October 15, 2022, with the polls open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Residents of BC, as well as property owners within jurisdiction are eligible to vote, provided they meet the Local Government Act eligibility requirements (see general election information below for details).

2022 City of Port Alberni Nomination Documents

Nomination packages for candidates in the 2022 City of Port Alberni elections will be available on July 29, 2022. Nomination documents must be delivered to the City’s main office (4850 Argyle St, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 1V8) between Tuesday, August 30 and Friday, September 9 during regular business hours. Completed nominations must be submitted/delivered no later than September 9, 2022, at 4 pm.

Shortly after 4:00 pm on Friday, September 9, candidates are invited to join the Chief Election Officer [CEO] in City Hall, Council Chambers in the official declaration of candidates for the 2022 General Local Election. Also at this time, the CEO will be drawing candidate names to determine the order in which names will appear on the election ballot.

All Candidates Forum | October 4, 2022

Students of the A.D.S.S. Social Justice 12 class along with Instructor, Anne Ostwald will be hosting an All Candidates Forum on Tuesday, October 4th from 1:50 pm to 3:00 pm in the A.D.S.S. Theatre.
