Final Week to Share your Feedback for the First Round of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Engagement
Thursday, October 24, 2024
Port Alberni, BC – The first round of engagement for Port Alberni’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan is coming to a close on Friday, October 25. Everyone is encouraged to participate before then so their ideas are included in drafting the City’s first Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC) Master Plan. When complete, the plan will guide decision-making and investment in PRC services in Port Alberni over the next seven years and beyond.
"As we enter the final week of engagement for round one of our master plan, I encourage every resident to join us in this vital conversation," said Mayor Sharie Minions. "Your input is essential as we work to envision a vibrant future for parks, recreation, and culture in Port Alberni. Together, we can forge inclusive and sustainable spaces that reflect the diverse needs of our community.”
“Over the past month, we have heard hundreds of great ideas for the future of our City’s PRC services,” says Willa Thorpe, Director of Parks, Recreation & Culture. “We’ve also heard thoughts on what is working well and where improvements are needed. All of these insights are very valuable as we begin drafting the Master Plan.”
Up until this Friday, October 25 residents can share their ideas in the Public Survey or add to the Online Ideas Map. Links and additional details are available at letsconnectpa.ca/PRCMP.
Over the winter, the project team will be developing draft directions. A second round of engagement is planned for Spring 2025 to present emerging directions and hear from residents about where the plan is on track and where adjustments are needed.
