City Hires New Facility Operations Supervisor
PORT ALBERNI, British Columbia, Canada – The City of Port Alberni is pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Rob Kraneveldt as Facility Operations Supervisor replacing Mr. Mark Zenko who is moving on to new opportunities.
Mr. Kraneveldt has been employed by the City of Port Alberni for thirty years, with much of that time being spent in the field of facility maintenance. For the past 15 years Mr. Kraneveldt has worked in the role of Senior Maintenance Worker where he was responsible for the supervision of maintenance workers in various facilities, and directly managed the maintenance of Echo Aquatic Centre.
Known for taking on challenging projects, in 2017 Mr. Kraneveldt oversaw the renovation of City-owned Recreation Park, a project that resulted in improvements to Gyro Youth Centre, upgrades and converting the outdoor lacrosse facility to a multi-sport arena, ball field grandstand and outdoor basketball court.
“We are pleased to have Rob continue as part of the City’s leadership team in this new capacity,” said Tim Pley, City of Port Alberni’s Chief Administrative Officer. “Rob’s familiarity with our facilities and staff, and his thorough approach to his work will enable a seamless transition into the new role.”
Willa Thorpe, Director of Parks, Recreation and Heritage said, “I was very pleased to find the best candidate for this position within our own ranks, and look forward to working with Rob in his new capacity.”
As Facility Operations Supervisor Mr. Kraneveldt will be responsible for the maintenance and renewal of all City-owned structures, and oversee maintenance staff in those facilities.
