City Hires Manager of Police Support Services

Port Alberni, BC – The City of Port Alberni is pleased to announce the hiring of Ms. Wendy Murphy as Manager of Police Support Services.
Ms. Murphy comes to the City with extensive knowledge in the field of police support services bringing 20 years of experience to the position. She has worked in a variety of police management and operational support roles, including Office Manager with RCMP E Division Head Quarters and Operations Support Coordinator with Kelowna’s Southeast District Head Quarters. Most recently, Ms. Murphy was employed as an Instructor with the RCMP Pacific Regional Training Centre.
“I am very pleased and excited to have succeeded in engaging Wendy Murphy as our new Manager of Police Support Services,” said Gaylene Thorogood, Manager of Community Safety. “Wendy has many years of experience with the RCMP and with that comes expansive understanding, background and competencies that will be an asset to the Detachment and the City,” concluded Ms. Thorogood.
In this new role, Ms. Murphy will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision to municipal support services staff who perform a wide range of services within the RCMP detachment. Ms. Murphy will work closely with the RCMP Officer in Charge and act as liaison between the City and the RCMP detachment.
Ms. Murphy will assume her new role on July 27, 2020.
