The Outdoor Burning Suspension is being lifted in the City of Port Alberni.

The City's Fire Control Bylaw No. 5122 grants the Fire Chief the authority to suspend any or all outdoor burning, specifically, Section 16 - Outdoor Burning, states, in part:

"the Fire Chief may, at their discretion, suspend any or all outdoor burning for reasons
of public nuisance or public safety, including but not limited to, air quality and risk of fire
spread, and in such event no person shall carry on open burning within the City".

Therefore, Mike Owens, Fire Chief, City of Port Alberni, does hereby rescind the Order that all outdoor burning be suspended effective on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 5pm.

All outdoor burning within the City of Port Alberni must comply with local bylaws. Please reference the following website for more information: www.portalberni.ca/burning-regulations
