Two City Departments to Relocate to 4835 Argyle Street

Port Alberni, BC – Due to a significant increase in demand for City services and resources the City will be permanently moving two departments – Development Services and Engineering - across the street to the second floor of the Salvation Army building (formerly known as the federal building and main post office), located at 4835 Argyle Street.

The move will take place over the weekend of July 6th. The public should be aware that these departments will be closed to the public for two business days – Monday, July 8 and Tuesday, July 9th  - reopening July 10 at the new location.

While this increase in demand for services is a positive sign of our growing community, it has also highlighted capacity and space challenges at City Hall. As part of this relocation, City Hall will undergo renovations to improve its reception area and create additional office space. These renovations will address current capacity issues while also creating a better work environment for City employees. Our goal is to not only meet current demand but also to position ourselves for sustained growth in the future.

City Hall will remain open to the public during renovations to the reception area. Please continue to visit us during our regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm.

The City will keep the public notified if any unforeseen disruptions occur.
