The Business Case for Rail between the Train Station and McLean Mill

The Western Vancouver Island Industrial Heritage Society and the Alberni Pacific Railway have launched an effort to fund a business case for getting the rail line between the Train Station and McLean Mill operational again. The Island Corridor Foundation and the City have each committed $5,000 towards the matching funding required to access a $30,000 grant from the Island Coastal Economic Trust for the business case. At the January 22, 2024 Council meeting, Council directed staff to enter into negotiations for the purpose of establishing a formal agreement with WVIIHS regarding activities at the Roundhouse and McLean Mill for Council consideration.
